Top Five Gift Ideas for Dogs

If you're looking for gift ideas for your own dog or other dogs you love, here's our top five tried-and-true wag-getters!

Since 2006, we've been lovingly owned by eight dogs so far. We make plans and decisions with them in mind. They're family, and their happiness is important to us.

So dog purchases are part of our monthly budget. Some of that is for food, medication, and veterinarian visits, of course. Some of it is for supplies like leashes, dishes, collars, harnesses, poop bags, stuff like that. And some of it is for toys... Oh So Many Toys.

Creating this list was easy - all we had to do is look around the house and name the things our dogs enjoy more than any others. We have our own reasons for loving them, too.

We may make a small commission if you click one of our links and make a purchase at Amazon.

Thank you for supporting our blog while giving a dog a smile!

    1 - Grain Free Treats

    Why we love them

    • GRAIN FREE! Pups with grain allergies need spoiled with snacks, too.
    • The minis are perfect for training and watching calories. What dog doesn't want more, more, more? Give in without the guilt of over-treating.
    • For multi-dog homes, treats can be pricey. These come in bulk, saving $$ per pound.
    • Bulk treats come in a sealable bag, keeping them fresh for refilling the doggie cookie jar.
    • Made in Canada.

2 - Wool Dryer Balls (yeah, for dogs)

    * NOTE *
Never allow a dog to chew toys unsupervised.

    Why we love them

    • Soft on the mouth; won't chip or break teeth.
    • Promotes oral hygiene, as the wool wipes/cleans the teeth as dogs chew.
    • Small wool fibers pass right through the digestive system if swallowed.
    • Cruelty-free, eco-friendly, chemical-free, hypoallergenic, and organic.
    • Machine washable.
    • All the companies here support fair trade and ethical work conditions for women in Nepal.
    • Made in Nepal with 100% pure New Zealand wool.
    for medium to large dogs
for small dogs (and cats and ferrets, too)

    3 - Tough Toys

    * NOTE *
Never allow a dog to chew toys unsupervised.

    Why we love them

    • No stuffing to tear out and spread all over the house.
    • No squeakers to pull out and potentially swallow.
    • West Paw and ChuckIt are great for fetch.
    • Endless recipes to fill Kong.
    • All (except Benebone) are machine washable.
    • All are made in USA.

4 - Zoom Groom Dog Brush

    Why we love it

    • Our dogs actually line up when we get this out!
    • Soft cones massage skin and encourage better circulation.
    • Amazing results on the three different coats in our house (Shepherd-Husky, Australian Shepherd-Border Collie, and Basset Hound).
    • Great for both dry fur and while shampooing.
    • Comfortable to hold and use.
    • Easy to remove fur from tool.
    • Machine washable.
    • Made in USA.

    5 - PetFusion Dog Bed

    Why we love it

    • Memory foam is thick, supportive, and does not bottom out with weight.
    • Bolster is great for resting head or curling up against.
    • Mattress and bolster are in separate zippered compartments.
    • Memory foam mattress has its own water-resistant zippered cover.
    • Machine washable. We've washed the cover many times, and it comes out looking new every time!
    • Made in USA.

    Bonus: Pawtect Pet Blanket

    Why we love it

    • Cozy and soft!
    • Perfect for dogs who like to make a nest.
    • Wonderful for crates, people furniture, and dog beds
    • Machine washable.
    • Designed in Iowa (but made in China).

    What's Cassie holding?

It's the Lollycadoodle Ring Boiled Wool Dog Toy from Natural Pet Warehouse. She also loves a wool snake we bought there.
